Evacuations - For Storms and other emergencies

The Fire Department would be the Department in charge of any evacuation. 

Shelter locations include:  American Legion at Park Avenue and the Northwest School on 450 County Line Road.  The County of Suffolk would have information on other Congregate Emergency Shelters.

A fully charged cell phone

Fire Extinguisher

Blankets

In the event of a emergency warning:

Monitor your local radio station for emergency information

Have you cars fuel tank filled

Secure outdoor furniture, etc.

Be prepared to safeguard windows and doors to minimize flying glass

If evacuation becomes necessary, inform a friend or family member of your family's location

Keep a list of phone numbers for people you need to reach

Family Safety:

If you are in a safe place, stay there

Have a designated meeting place for your family members

Help young people deal with fears

Make arraignments for the elderly and those with special needs

Be aware of your surroundings
